The thermodynamics of irreversible processes for some rheological bodies (i.e. solids which are characterized by linear relations among the components of the stress tensor, the first derivatives of the components of this tensor and of the components of the strain tensor) known as Maxwell bodies, is developed. By taking into account thermal effects, a relativistic generalization of the rheological equations of these bodies is obtained.

Abstract
