We describe a 10-years-old white girl with focal epilepsy and a 13-years-old white male displaying weekly migraine attacks. Both showed high plasma levels of antiphopspholipid antibodies (APA). Neuroimaging investigations turned out to be negative, while EEG showed the presence of focal abnormalities. They were administered acetylsalycilic acid which determined EEG normalization and a decrease of the paroxysmal events. These results suggest the possible role of APA in several neurologic syndromes. Their possible mechanism of action is discussed as well as the diagnostic and therapeutic usefulness of their assessment in autoimmune disorders of central nervous system.

Abstract
We describe a 10-years-old white girl with focal epilepsy and a 13-years-old white male displaying weekly migraine attacks. Both showed high plasma levels of antiphopspholipid antibodies (APA). Neuroimaging investigations turned out to be negative, while EEG showed the presence of focal abnormalities. They were administered acetylsalycilic acid which determined EEG normalization and a decrease of the paroxysmal events. These results suggest the possible role of APA in several neurologic syndromes. Their possible mechanism of action is discussed as well as the diagnostic and therapeutic usefulness of their assessment in autoimmune disorders of central nervous system.Pubblicazioni consigliate
