This paper presents a study of the stress state generated by dental implants with a geometry differing from the traditional circular cross-section. Photoelastic techniques were used to evidence the advantages of a new pseudo-elliptical system compared to traditional systems in terms of the stress distribution in the bone, and the values obtained were compared with the results from FEM analysis.

Abstract

This paper presents a study of the stress state generated by dental implants with a geometry differing from the traditional circular cross-section. Photoelastic techniques were used to evidence the advantages of a new pseudo-elliptical system compared to traditional systems in terms of the stress distribution in the bone, and the values obtained were compared with the results from FEM analysis.
