This paper describes the MCA (Multimodal Corpus Authoring System), a web-based multimodal concordancer, whose former Home Page was http://mca.unipv.it. The MCA tool, now replaced by the McaWeb tools (mcaweb.unipv.it) is used in, and has developed from, research undertaken within three Italian inter-University COFIN projects, Citatal, Linguatel and Didactas, into the meaning-making processes and meaning-making structures that characterise film texts.
