Beautiful, strong and light This is the advertisement to propmote aluminium, along with manufacturing versatility and external agents resistance. The publicized advantages, in conformity with the features of the materialput it in competition with other metals used for building industry products, such as sheets and sections. The steel is its direct competitor, since the ‘70s, the first comparisons concerned fastenings. The reason of this preference is the declared “stainless”. After few year of diffused application, the remark of pathologies and corrosion damages surprised designers and entrepreneurs. Drawing from a sampling of real cases and by the technical support of producers and fasteners, after a detailed study on damages reasons and deterioration mechanism, paying attention to the recurrence of corrosion, this study aims to provide some suggestions for phenomena prevention, proposing, in particular, planning directions.
