A comparative statistical analysis between the Italian local banks, the effects of the financial crisis on funding and credit policies

This paper, through a compared statistical analysis of the main balance sheet, profit and loss and other economic profiles of the small-business banking operations in Italy, highlights any different impacts caused by the recent global financial crisis. In the most cases, the sample examined has been broken down following geographical criteria of the banking operations, in order to obtain aggregates and ratios referred to North, Central and Southern Italy. The scope of this study is the analysis of both the impact on the bank management of the global economic shock and any differences among the territorial areas above. The profiles observed are funding policies, credit policies and other main management profiles i.e. profitability, liquidity, efficiency of the structure, solvency, riskiness of loans and productivity of the personnel.
