Abstract

From the results of completed experimental campaigns, is emerged the influence of the shape and size of plastic recycled aggregates on the performance at the fresh and hardened state of the concretes prepared by replacing partially or totally components of mineral aggregate. The different influence of flakes and granules of r-PET and of the their particle size distribution, from fine to coarse, is now an acquired data, that by virtue of the recorded mechanical properties leads to prefer plastic aggregates of granular form with size 7/15. We will proceed therefore in the experimentation, increasing the proportion of substitution with granules of r-PET 7/15, so far no more than 15%, of the equivalent component of mineral aggregate, to try to reduce the weight of the mixture prepared below the threshold provided by the category of structural lightweight concrete, equal to 2000 kg / m³, at the moment still disregarded and to verify until what percentage of substitution the mechanical performance remain compatible with the structural uses. Resuming already launched considerations, it will be simultaneously investigated the fire behaviour of the mixtures already packaged, to effect the performance analysis related to fire safety.
