Is a Darwinian Biolinguistics possible? Biolinguistics studies biology and evolution of language. Nevertheless, the main biolinguistic approach, the chomskyan one, adopts a Cartesian and anti-evolutionist epistemological framework. In this paper we propose an evolutionary approach to biolinguistics. In particular, we argue that a strictly Darwinian biolinguistics can not be separated from the analysis of morphological structures that allow evolution and ontogenesis of language, both as a communicative that cognitive function. To do this we compare the Darwinian idea of language, with the current theories of the Evo-Devo about constraints and the theories of linguistic performance.
