Introduzione. Numerosi studi hanno evidenziatola presenza di ansia, depressione e rabbia nei soggetti cefalalgici, tuttavia i risultati non sempre sono coerenti. Lo scopo del presente lavoro è quello di esplorare la relazione fra le diverse componenti della rabbia, il livello di depressione e l’ansia di tratto e di stato, e i parametri diagnostici quali frequenza e durata degli attacchi. Materiali e metodi. Ottanta pazienti afferenti al Centro Cefalee del Policlinico Universitario G. Martino di Messina, di età compresa fra i 16 e i 70 anni (M=40,60; DS=14,64) sono stati valutati con lo State-Trait Anger Expression Inventory (STAXI-2), lo State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI) e la Beck Depression Inventory (BDI). Risultati. I risultati mostrano che vi è una relazione significativa positiva tra espressione della rabbia all’interno e durata dell’attacco (r=,488; p<,021) e tra il grado di depressione e la frequenza degli attacchi (r=,323; p<,045). Conclusione. È possibile ipotizzare che trattamenti psicologici e psichiatrici mirati potrebbero influire direttamente sulla sintomatologia, migliorando la qualità di vita dei pazienti.
