The aim of this paper is to focus on a problem that has not been suXciently attended to by researchers in the embodied language paradigm. This problem concerns the inferential level of communication. In real-life conversations implicit and inferential meaning is often the most important part of dialogues. However, embodied language researches, up to now, have not suXciently considered this aspect of human communication. Simulation of the propositional content is not suXcient in order to explain real-life linguistic activity. In addition, we need to explain how we get from propositional contents to inferential meanings. A usage-based model of language, focused on the idea that speaking is acting, will be presented. On this basis, the processes of language production and comprehension will be analyzed in the light of the recent Vndings on action comprehension.
