The teaching of corrosion science and engineering in Italy has its roots in an all-Italian cultural and scientific context that brings us up to the XVIII and XIX centuries with the studies of Luigi Galvani, Alessandro Volta and Leopoldo Nobili. Starting from the analysis of some recent surveys on the evaluation of educational processes in Anglo-Saxoncountries, an investigation on the diffusion of corrosion teaching in Italian universities or provided by scientific associations was carried out. From an analysis of the educational offers of the universities offering degree courses in Engineering or Chemistry (just under 60% of the total number) it appears that less than 50% of these courses there is at least a teaching about Corrosion or Durability of Materials. Most of these teachings are found in master's degrees. The teaching of corrosion, however, is not restricted to the university context alone, some scientific societies (in collaboration with university professors and industry consultants) organize and deliver basic and specialized courses in the field of corrosion and protection of materials basically aimed at integrating the gap training especially in technical-specialist training for applications in the production sector.
