Aim of this study is to build, tare and standardise a measurement tool (R.A.R.S., Rett Assessment Rating Scale) developed to understand and measure the intensity of the disease gravity for the children affected by the Rett Syndrome. The scale evaluate the gravity trend of the disease for the total items and the gravity trend in the different development areas (cognitive, sensorial, motory, emotional, of autonomy, of the typical characteristic of the disease and of the behaviour). Factor analysis, classical reliability analysis, and alpha analysis validated the scale. A new criterion of subject classification, based on the total score and on of the different development areas is proposed.
