This chapter is focused on the combination of comprehensive two-dimensional gas chromatography (GC×GC) with “information-poor” (at different levels) forms of detection, such as flame ionization detection, electron capture detection, etc., and with “information-rich” ones, namely mass spectrometry (MS) in its various forms and vacuum ultraviolet detection. Apart from basic principles related to the different forms of detection, several examples highlighting the power and opportunities, in particular of the three-dimensional technology GC×GC-MS, will be illustrated and discussed. Basic details on data analysis are also given.

Abstract
This chapter is focused on the combination of comprehensive two-dimensional gas chromatography (GC×GC) with “information-poor” (at different levels) forms of detection, such as flame ionization detection, electron capture detection, etc., and with “information-rich” ones, namely mass spectrometry (MS) in its various forms and vacuum ultraviolet detection. Apart from basic principles related to the different forms of detection, several examples highlighting the power and opportunities, in particular of the three-dimensional technology GC×GC-MS, will be illustrated and discussed. Basic details on data analysis are also given.File in questo prodotto:
