The opening of Black Sea to foreign trades and the freedom of navigation for Russia, at first, and then for Austria, France and other nations brought a new start in commercial relations between these ports and the Mediterranean ones. This article analyses the commercial network between the Strait of Messina and the Black Sea, after the signing of the treaty of trade between Russia and the Kingdon of Naples up to the beginning of the Continental Blockade (1806).
