Abstract
The main findings of the authors in the dynamic analysis of SDoF oscillators with viscoelastic damping are presented in this paper. Two alternative state-space formulations (the generalised Maxwell model and the Laguerre polynomial approximation) are summarised. Moreover, two novel integration schemes are proposed for studying the deterministic and random vibrations of viscoelastically damped structures, which prove to be computationally very efficient. Numerical examples show the accuracy of the proposed approaches, and demonstrate that the use of 'equivalent' Kelvin-Voigt models in practical application may be excessively unconservativePubblicazioni consigliate
