Present study is the result of an European research carried out in the project named SeFoNe. It is based on a research project conducted in Catania, one f the main cities in the island of Sicily, that hosts growing number of migrants who live scattered across the city. We used qualitative methods within a social psychological framework in order to investigate the perceptions of Catania's multicultural reality by migrants themselves. We also analysed prevalent media discourses about migration and policy proposals designed to improve migrants' quality of life and the relationships between people of different cultural backgrounds.
