In this work, microwave-assisted technique was applied in the synthesis of different metal oxide nanostructures for gas sensing applications. Chemoresistive devices consisting of a thick layer of SnO2, ZnO, Cd(OH)2 and CdO nanostructures on interdigitate alumina substrates were fabricated and their sensing characteristics investigated. Sensor devices based on these metal oxide nanostructures exhibited good performance in the monitoring of low concentrations of toxic gases.
