The article analyzes a comparison between the different sanctions to be applied in the different countries as foreseen by the art. 23 of the Regulation (EU) No 996/2010, 20 October 2010, on the investigation and prevention of accidents and incidents in civil aviation. The European regulation only limits itself to indicating the nature of the penalties - “effective, proportionate and dissuasive” - which Member States must lay down. In particular, the article considers who the relevant authority is, and if they have laid down specific rules on penalties for infringements of this Regulation. In the article, we consider Italy, France, Belgium, the UK, Ireland and Luxembourg.
