Globalization, Policy, Territory. A Postcolonial Analysis

The aim of this paper is to deal with political effects of what Bauman defined “Liquid Modernity” focusing on transformations of policies and territories in consequence of processes of globalization. To this purpose, we are going to use an analysis method inspired to postcolonial perspective based on deconstruction Western thinking (leading to a monolithic and ethnocentric vision of the world) and proposes new perspectives which, coming from colonial and cross-breed cultural experiences, open new theoretical interpretations and social practices through which societies reorganize their daily life. After some theoretical analysis, we are going to dwell on the analysis of a case study of the political-administrative organization of indigenous communities in the Mexican state of Oaxaca and of the relations among institutions, territories and local communities in consequence of the radical transformations that globalization processes are causing.
