The power of moving images allows us to represent the magical atmosphere of far places and territories (Hernández, 2004). Hence, the objective of this contribution is to investigate the geographic vocation of the cinema in relation to cultural routes. It presents the results of a comparative study between four films focusing on two Eu- ropean cultural routes: the Camino de Santiago (The Way y Onde está a felicidade?) and the Via Francigena (I Volti della Francigena and Francigena. The Italian Way). The space produced can be decoded and interpreted (Lefebvre, 1991); thus, the re- search proposes the reading of the spatial code used to build the cinematographic space of cultural routes.
