This paper deals with a survey of Dionysius Sidonius’ scholarship on epic and lyric poetry, in particular on Homer, Pindar and (perhaps) Alcman. Starting with a new evidence about Dionysius’ dissent towards Aristarchus, attested in Homeric scholia and lexica, his interest in Homer (chiefly in atheteses, accentuation, interpretation, textual and linguistic problems, narrative technique) is outlined. Attention has been paid also regarding Dionysius’ fragments related to Pindar. Only the scholia on Pyth. 1.88 refer to his opinion about the meaning of ἀμφοτέροις, mentioning him expressly by the ethnic Sidonius; elsewhere we can find scholars named Dionysius, and at least in one case our grammarian can be recognized. In the last section the possibility of his interest in Alcman is explored. Abstract
