Moral Reasoning: Before and After the Cognitive Turn. Is moral reasoning an object of philosophical or psychological analysis, or can it be considered from both perspectives? Are both of these perspectives in conflict with each other or do they converge toward common results? Cognitive approaches to ethics are often considered a form of “naturalistic fallacy”. By contrast, philosophical approaches to ethics are considered abstract and far from the way people make their moral choices. My philosophical proposal is to find, albeit with the due distinctions between the two different methods of inquiry, if and to what extent moral psychology can be understood as a normative discipline.

Abstract
Moral Reasoning: Before and After the Cognitive Turn. Is moral reasoning an object of philosophical or psychological analysis, or can it be considered from both perspectives? Are both of these perspectives in conflict with each other or do they converge toward common results? Cognitive approaches to ethics are often considered a form of “naturalistic fallacy”. By contrast, philosophical approaches to ethics are considered abstract and far from the way people make their moral choices. My philosophical proposal is to find, albeit with the due distinctions between the two different methods of inquiry, if and to what extent moral psychology can be understood as a normative discipline.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
