Interdisciplinary Q1 Studies in Pragmatics, Culture and Society focuses on the relationship between pragmatics and society on the one hand, and pragmatics and culture on the other. The (numerous) contributions to this volume offer a wide range of perspectives on the connection between language, culture and societal context. As claimed by Mey, there is something of a paradox with respect to this link: many of the most important questions about language, questions raised by classic and modern philosophy, like how to achieve success in communication, how to express oneself clearly, and how to be understood, have been neglected by the vast majority of contemporary linguistic studies, more concerned with the formal aspects of semantics and syntax (and even of pragmatics). On the contrary, the emphasis of this book is on the users of language.

Abstract
On the contrary, the emphasis of this book is on the users of language.Pubblicazioni consigliate
