In the present paper, the results of a FTIR anaysis performed as a function of temperature on wood fines, extracted from a 800' dated wooden painting frame, under a trehalose treatment are reported. In particular, at first, the wood fines were investigated, as a function of temperature during a thermal cycle, through an analysis of the infrared O-H and C-H stretching vibrational contributions; then wood finds treated with trehalose-water mixtures were investigated in order to perform a comparison of the two samples temperature spectral features under the same thermal cycle. From the present study it clearly emerges that trehalose provides the investigated wood fines a higher thermal restraint.
