This volume collects a series of contributions that students, colleagues and friends wanted to dedicate, on the occasion of his seventy years (completed, but not demonstrated), to Francesco, Franco for the friends, and Vincenzo for the registry office, Pomponio. Franco was witness and actor of the golden age of Assyriology Italian, fifty years (1970-2020 AD) of exciting discoveries, great scientific activity and turbulent academy. Student of Giorgio Raimondo Castellino in turn student of the great and eclectic orientalist Giuseppe Furlani, Franco’s academic career took off at a time foundation for the Italian orientalist, the 70s, and crossed a moment fruitful but difficult (the '80s), from his training at La Sapienza sino to its fortuitous but lucky landing to the University of the Studies of Messina, before as associated and then as ordinary of axiriology, role covered in the latter twenty years. Among the authors of the various contributions, we can remember P. Ciocca, M.G. Amadasi Guzzo, M.G. Biga, O. Bulgarelli, F. D'Agostino, B.R. Foster, P. Mander, M. Molina, S.F. Monaco, D.I. Owen, S.
