The Bible is the book that has most influenced European languages, providing linguistic forms, meanings, images, ideologies. Moreover, through the Vulgata, it is one of the most remarkable sources of Italian proverbial heritage. In this work, I present a corpus of Italian proverbs directly or indirectly referable to the Bible. My interest is in reflecting on the modalities of influence of the biblical text (though through various mediations) on the formation of proverbial formulas. Specifically, I propose to classify the proverbs of biblical origin into three categories based on different relationships that proverbial form has with the text. I conclude with some observations on the characteristics of these proverbs and on modalities of transmission and use.

Abstract
The Bible is the book that has most influenced European languages, providing linguistic forms, meanings, images, ideologies. Moreover, through the Vulgata, it is one of the most remarkable sources of Italian proverbial heritage. In this work, I present a corpus of Italian proverbs directly or indirectly referable to the Bible. My interest is in reflecting on the modalities of influence of the biblical text (though through various mediations) on the formation of proverbial formulas. Specifically, I propose to classify the proverbs of biblical origin into three categories based on different relationships that proverbial form has with the text. I conclude with some observations on the characteristics of these proverbs and on modalities of transmission and use.Pubblicazioni consigliate
