The Common Framework of Reference for Intercultural Digital Literacies (CFRIDiL) (Sindoni et al. 2019) has been conceived within this twofold view encompassing both domains. Moving on from the integration and expansion of three well-known frameworks, namely the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), the Digital Competence Framework for Citizens (DigComp2.0), and the Autobiography of Intercultural Encounters (AIE),2 CFRIDiL aims at providing a set of new descriptors suitable to evaluate intercultural multimodal digital literacies. The framework is flexible and data-driven and has been designed to better understand how learners can interpret, evaluate, produce, and interact with others via multimodal digital texts. Nowadays, individuals are mainly engaged with artifacts and practices that, first, imply a wide range of semiotic resources and, second, occur in multiple networking platforms wherein intercultural sensitivity is required for the diversity of backgrounds of the people that populate them.
