The EU Disability Strategy 2010–2020 has been developed with the aim of realizing a barrier-free Europe, empowering people with disabilities to participate fully in society. As far as tourism is concerned, attention could be directed at investigating if it is possible for disabled people to visit museums, archeological areas, etc., without hindrance. The present analysis discusses the relevance of accessible tourism, considering information as a major feature of accessibility. It also presents a preliminary investigation on the correlations between a proxy for the demand for cultural sites visits in Sicily and available information. The proxy for the demand of disabled people has been based on the number of free tickets to cultural sites that have been delivered. This data has been retrieved from the website of the Sicily Region. A higher number of visitors to cultural institutions with free admission indicates a greater attractiveness of said institutions.

Abstract
A higher number of visitors to cultural institutions with free admission indicates a greater attractiveness of said institutions.Pubblicazioni consigliate
