Sidonius Apollinaris’ De piscibus nocte captis (carm. 21) paints with a few evocative brushstrokes a lake fishing scene similar to that of the famous letter to Domitius (epist. II 2), giving life to a suggestive dynamic of internal intertextuality. Moreover, both pieces seem to be conceived as parts of the “Avitacus cycle”, which also includes the De balneis uillae suae and the De piscina sua (carm. 18-19) and is characterized by the attempt to embellish the images of aristocratic leisure with a refined writing rich in literary reminiscences. In particular, in carm. 21 we see a sophisticated inlay of references to Ausonius’ Mosella and epist. 13 Green.

Abstract
13 Green.Pubblicazioni consigliate
