These AI-tools have been used for data selection, collection and sampling informed by a critical corpus approach, which is adopted for the discussion of selective findings. Given the pivotal role of female climate activism in shaping people’s ideas and attitudes related on broad perceptions of climate crisis, the investigation focuses on parallel and recurrent discourses, related to climate activism but not uniquely centred on it. These parallel discourses contribute to signpost underlying evaluation and ideologies adjacently enacted by female climate activists on Twitter. Therefore, the present work focuses on the following research questions (RQs from now on): RQ1 What other discourses are embedded in pro-climate female activism? RQ2 What kind of evaluation is associated to such discourses?

Abstract

Drawing on recent research on AI in the context of digital discourse analysis, this work aims to produce a small-scale exploratory study that uses AI-based tools to corpus-based critical studies.
