The essay aims to review, in a summary way, a wide range of poets who actively participated in the events of their countries in the post-war period. The area examined corresponds to Eastern Europe, with particular reference to the so-called 'shattered lands', i.e. the countries that emerged from the war after the dissolution of the great empires and the birth of new nations. In the bloody period that followed, characterized by civil wars, constituent phases, revolutions and counter-revolutions, the participation of soldier-poets in conflicts was the emblem of the growing permeability in the membrane that divided aesthetics and politics.

Abstract

The essay aims to review, in a summary way, a wide range of poets who actively participated in the events of their countries in the post-war period. The area examined corresponds to Eastern Europe, with particular reference to the so-called 'shattered lands', i.e. the countries that emerged from the war after the dissolution of the great empires and the birth of new nations. In the bloody period that followed, characterized by civil wars, constituent phases, revolutions and counter-revolutions, the participation of soldier-poets in conflicts was the emblem of the growing permeability in the membrane that divided aesthetics and politics.
