Literary texts provide exciting elements to reflect on the ancient Mesopotamian female world: what society expected from women, and sometimes what they actually thought, how they talked, and the way they acted. In this paper the data of the so-called “popular” or “humoristic literature” will be first analyzed, in particular passages in which women, or characters who talk and think like women, are protagonists, to broaden then the study to other literary texts, among which are those of the so-called wisdom literature.

Abstract
Literary texts provide exciting elements to reflect on the ancient Mesopotamian female world: what society expected from women, and sometimes what they actually thought, how they talked, and the way they acted. In this paper the data of the so-called “popular” or “humoristic literature” will be first analyzed, in particular passages in which women, or characters who talk and think like women, are protagonists, to broaden then the study to other literary texts, among which are those of the so-called wisdom literature.File in questo prodotto:
