Artificial Intelligence in Times of crises: a view trough the Lens of scholars

In the face of crises, ranging from global financial crises to pandemics, arti ficial intelligence (AI) emerges as a crucial tool with the potential to mitigate, manage, and respond effectively to pressing challenges. The pervasive application of AI in different fields and its role in times of crisis have become a subject of great interest and analysis. This chapter investigates the dichotomy of AI as both a promising develop ment and a potential risk to explore the landscape of AI applications across several fields of study during the last four years, by high lighting the challenges and threats encountered. Through a comprehensive analysis of scholarly articles, the study shows the “bright side” of the roles of AI in times of crisis, such as predictive modelling for early warning and decision support systems by developing a focus on the fields of legal and managerial sciences, deepening the ethical, legal, and managerial implications associated with the arrangement of AI during crises, and addressing issues of human-AI interaction.
