The Monastery of St. John the Forerunner on St. John Island near Sozopolis was founded in the 13th century and destroyed in the second quarter of the 17th century. After its destruction, the monks relocated to the Monastery of the Virgin Kamariotissa on the island of Chalki in the Sea of Marmara, near Constantinople, bringing with them numerous ecclesiastical treasures. This article presents several Greek inscriptions, dating from the last quarter of the 16th to the first quarter of the 19th century, which provide valuable insights into the history of the monastery and the figures associated with it.
