Recognize and understand others. Psychotic experiences and shared lucid delusions

Schizophrenia and delusional disorder (paranoia) represent the polar extremes of the contemporary schizophrenia spectrum disorders. Can abilities in Theory of Mind (ToM), Executive Functions (EF), and the experience of empathy, determine the capacity to understand and share the content of a morbid idea? Ultimately, is it possible to establish a phenomenological distinction between schizophrenic and paranoiac psychoses? Above all, what role does language play in these conditions? From a phenomenological and linguistic perspective, schizophrenia and delusional disorder constitute deeply divergent psychotic experiences. This paper aims to elucidate the cognitive, psychopathological, and existential modalities characteristic of so-called schizophrenia spectrum disorders. Specifically, the gap between schizophrenic and paranoiac (delusional disorder) psychosis will be investigated by examining emotional experiences, communicative and relational needs, and the capacity for shared delusions among psychotic subjects.
