Benedetto Croce is usually regarded as a ferocious critic of scientific knowledge, but as a matter of fact, in this contribution I will try to show that the Neapolitan philosopher targeted not all science, but a specific scientific movement: Positivism. In fact, Croce-with his dialectic of the distinct-aimed to provide a complex conception of reality, so that regarding the Neapolitan philosopher one can for all purposes consider him an epistemologist of complexity.
