A research on 102 meat sheep was carried out to evaluate the correlation between the California Mastitis Test (CMT) and the Content of Somatic Cells (SCC) in the presence of mastitis. The research was based on analysis of about 2400 milk samples, collected weekly throughout the lactation period of the lambs (12 weeks) Each sample was tested by bacteriological examinations, by the CMT and by evaluation of SCC. The results obtained allow us to observe that, on the basis of the health status of the udder, evaluated by the microbiological examination, the number of somatic cells is significantly related to the CMT scores (P<0,025).

Abstract
A research on 102 meat sheep was carried out to evaluate the correlation between the California Mastitis Test (CMT) and the Content of Somatic Cells (SCC) in the presence of mastitis. The research was based on analysis of about 2400 milk samples, collected weekly throughout the lactation period of the lambs (12 weeks) Each sample was tested by bacteriological examinations, by the CMT and by evaluation of SCC. The results obtained allow us to observe that, on the basis of the health status of the udder, evaluated by the microbiological examination, the number of somatic cells is significantly related to the CMT scores (P<0,025).File in questo prodotto:
