In this paper we propose a simple-minded theoretical approach and develop an empirical investigation in order to analyse the relation between unemployment, competitiveness and public regional investment in Italy. The model builds on Layard, Jackman and Nickell (1991) macroeconomic framework and brings into life the regional dimension of the labour market. This simple approach, however, is very useful in that it allows to make straightforward and strong predictions and provides a useful guide to the evolution of unemployment differential in Italy.

Abstract
In this paper we propose a simple-minded theoretical approach and develop an empirical investigation in order to analyse the relation between unemployment, competitiveness and public regional investment in Italy. The model builds on Layard, Jackman and Nickell (1991) macroeconomic framework and brings into life the regional dimension of the labour market. This simple approach, however, is very useful in that it allows to make straightforward and strong predictions and provides a useful guide to the evolution of unemployment differential in Italy.File in questo prodotto:
