This paper proposes a truly three switch-three phase inverter topology, suitable for standard induction motors. The voltage of the dump capacitor is controlled through one of the phase switches, rather than introducing additional switches, or special winding connections. All three power switches are of the low side type, greatly simplifying the practical realization of the converter. An open loop voltage control scheme is developed that drives the motor according to a constant V/Hz strategy. The paper firstly presents the theoretical development of the proposed topology, then the main features of the new inverter scheme are investigated through simulation and experimental results.

Abstract
This paper proposes a truly three switch-three phase inverter topology, suitable for standard induction motors. The voltage of the dump capacitor is controlled through one of the phase switches, rather than introducing additional switches, or special winding connections. All three power switches are of the low side type, greatly simplifying the practical realization of the converter. An open loop voltage control scheme is developed that drives the motor according to a constant V/Hz strategy. The paper firstly presents the theoretical development of the proposed topology, then the main features of the new inverter scheme are investigated through simulation and experimental results.Pubblicazioni consigliate
