The optical properties of (AgI)x-(Ag2O-nB2O3)1-x samples with n = 2 and x values ranging from 0.0 to 0.6, are investigated by means of spectrophotometric techniques and reflection electron energy loss spectroscopy. The relative concentration of the elements in the samples has been tested by means of XPS. This technique, used in conjunction with ion sputtering in order to remove the first surface layers, have allowed useful information to be gained about the considerable diffusion of the silver ions within the investigated solids.

Abstract
