The importance of periodical publications has been well-known for some time, and numerous are the works that have been dedicated mostly to the papers that appeared in seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. Looking at these sources from a ‘different’ angle, it is possible to pick out several aspects to give new reading and significance to the role played by these periodicals in the training of public opinion. In particular, the paper focuses attention on the spreading of parliamentary proceedings in the season of the early Sicilian constitutionalism through this kind of source. The rapid survey of the Sicilian reality during the constitutional season shows how the attention for the decisions taken by the local government reached a particularly high level, so much so to justify on the part of the public power the unconcealed use of a strict ministerial control over the news to be published. On the contrary, it gives evidence for the awareness of the ‘public spirit’, which was not willing anymore to remain apart from the most significant political events.

Abstract
On the contrary, it gives evidence for the awareness of the ‘public spirit’, which was not willing anymore to remain apart from the most significant political events.Pubblicazioni consigliate
