The University Language Centre of Messina, Italy (C.L.A.M.) is in charge of assessing receptive language skills in students who need foreign language certification to graduate, but do not have curricular courses provided by their Faculties. This paper addresses questions such as blended courses, training of teachers, creation of cost-effective, valid and reliable tests in foreign language receptive skills. Related issues concern the identification of a standard format for some CEF level, standardized procedures of implementation, selection of suitable original and authentic materials. Finally, editing process, digitalization of learning objects, and assessment of the outcomes will be briefly outlined.
