The criticisms of globalization are numerous. But can we really blame it for all the faults attributed to it? Having acknowledged that the globalization we are experiencing is incomplete, biased and far from respecting the rules laid down by economic theory and that, probably because of this, it reinforces poverty, since there remain forms of human hardship (such as malnutrition, illiteracy, infant mortality, racial, linguistic and religious discrimination) and the violation of basic human rights, this study focuses on alternative ways of measuring poverty. The conclusion is that globalization is neither good nor bad as such but is a tool at the service of humanity and the common good. The risk is not so much that of becoming its victims, but rather of being excluded. We should thus govern changes in competition, observe the rules, and prioritize globally those policies which promote not only growth but are also aimed at reducing poverty.
