Malignant fibrous histiocytoma of uterus: a possible diagnosis?

Among non epithelial malignant neoplasms of uterus malignant fibrous histiocytoma ia a rare but possible diagnosis. IT is difficult to make a clear distinction between malignant fibrous histiocytoma and other non epithelial malignant neoplasms of the uterus. We studied 14 cases of malignant non epithelial uterine neoplasms testing them for: alpha-1-antitrypsin, lysozyme, ferritin, myoglobin, S-100 protein, vimentin, desmin and keratin. The diagnosis of malignant fibrous histiocytoma has been possible in 3 cases. We stress this possibility to be considered in the differential diagnosis of non epithelial uterine tumors.
