The aim of this work is the optimization of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) synthesis by Catalytic Chemical Vapor Deposition (CCVD) with iron supported catalysts and isobutane as carbon precursor applying Taguchi DOE method. Assumed synthesis-temperature, support-material, calcination and reduction temperatures of catalysts as the four factors of importance in the process, nine suitably designed experiments are carried out and the effect of the four three-level factors on selectivity toward nanotubes, catalytic yield and CNTs quality is evaluated. By this procedure, configurations giving optimal results are predicted and tested.

Abstract
The aim of this work is the optimization of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) synthesis by Catalytic Chemical Vapor Deposition (CCVD) with iron supported catalysts and isobutane as carbon precursor applying Taguchi DOE method. Assumed synthesis-temperature, support-material, calcination and reduction temperatures of catalysts as the four factors of importance in the process, nine suitably designed experiments are carried out and the effect of the four three-level factors on selectivity toward nanotubes, catalytic yield and CNTs quality is evaluated. By this procedure, configurations giving optimal results are predicted and tested.File in questo prodotto:
