Owing to development in several spheres, ranging from technological to economic to political, travelling from one country to another has become an ordinary part of life. And because companion animals commonly constitute a significant element of their owners’ lives, it may be natural for them to want to take their animals with them when they travel for a temporary but generally substantial period of time or if they choose to move to another country permanently. The legislation applicable to pet animals -which are moved i.e. within the European Union for non-commercial reasons -aims to guarantee a high level of protection for human and animal health while facilitating movements of pet animals accompanied by their owners. Considering a case report on a dog -dead during a flight -the paper examines aspectsof the legislation on non-commercial movement of pet animals and underlines that the prevention of animal suffering is afundamental part of transport. It is hoped that this study is useful forreflection and elaboration of new regulations in this matter.

Abstract
It is hoped that this study is useful forreflection and elaboration of new regulations in this matter.Pubblicazioni consigliate
