The paper proposes a protocol for intervention on Militello Rosmarino, a small historic centre within the Nebrodi Park (Sicily), affected by depopulation and low level of protection of its cultural heritage. The study is part of a broader research on historic centres of the Park, aimed at enhancing urban and land policies in a sustainable perspective. Starting with the well-known declination of the concept of economic, social and environmental sustainability, literature on the matter refers to a common according to which the ultimate objective of any intervention should develop local resources and, as a consequence, should contribute to enhancing the quality of life of a community and the level of preservation of the cultural heritage. In this sense, one of the most important aim of the study was to incentivize the re-use of abandoned buildings through proposals of minimal and compatible interventions and, as a consequence of that, reduce soil consumption and decrease depopulation; but also incentivizing the insertion of activities aimed at restart the economical and social vitality of the historic centre and connected to the residential functions proposed. The objective of sustainability requires an equilibrium between the economic reuse of the asset and its conservation.

Abstract
The objective of sustainability requires an equilibrium between the economic reuse of the asset and its conservation.Pubblicazioni consigliate
