The Constitution of 1812 opened a new phase in the Sicilian political life but, at the same time, it revealed limits because of its inherent inadequacy to serve as a framework for Government action and political debate of the following years. By means of the story of the Sicilian Parliament in the years 1812-1815, this analysis aims to highlight the link between the Constitution of 1812 and the international political juncture at the time. The article also wants to stress the limits of the Constitution in fully representing the maturation of the eighteenth-century Sicilian political culture and prefiguring the subsequent developments in the nineteenth-century.

Abstract
The Constitution of 1812 opened a new phase in the Sicilian political life but, at the same time, it revealed limits because of its inherent inadequacy to serve as a framework for Government action and political debate of the following years. By means of the story of the Sicilian Parliament in the years 1812-1815, this analysis aims to highlight the link between the Constitution of 1812 and the international political juncture at the time. The article also wants to stress the limits of the Constitution in fully representing the maturation of the eighteenth-century Sicilian political culture and prefiguring the subsequent developments in the nineteenth-century.Pubblicazioni consigliate
