For the post-earthquake reconstruction of Messina, the Ministry of Public Works selected a wide number of building companies "known in the field of building industry and for the application of the most modern construction methods", that were invited to participate at the award of public procurement with restricted tendering. Their geographical location was predominantly north-central Italy albeit in the shadow of the group identified, not mentioned local companies attended the event, each bringing its own contribution to define, in relation to the endogeno experience gained, some building systems that availed themselves of the reinforced concrete, according to pioneering solutions designed or upgraded to withstand the effects of the earthquake. This reconnaissance, interpolating archival sources with direct surveys, want to return the sense of the applications introduced by some companies that have adopted, sometimes modulated or disregarded, industrial property rights of which they were dealerships: in particular the Ferrobeton based in Rome and Messina for the Wayss System & Freytag, and ing. Garibaldi Perroni & C based in Messina and Palermo for the Hennebique System; both contributed actively, after the earthquake, to reconstruction starting from the original patents of which they were exclusivist, to arrive at constructive conceptions meet the antiseismic dictates.
