Since decades innovation has been gaining a more relevant role in regional studies where it isconceived as a way to enhance economic development at national and regional levels(Freeman, 2002; Lundvall, 1992; Nelson, 1993). The combination of geographical spatiality and innovation has been discussed from many points of view but its effects on employment are still controversial (Buerger et al., 2012). In this study we offer a contribution in this direction.
